Home Performance Consultants

The core members of MBPA are Energy Experts either certified with the Building Performance Institute (www.bpi.org) or are Certified Home Energy Raters through the Residential Energy Services Network (www.natresnet.org). Home Performance Consultants are independent technicians who do not sell any energy product or equipment. The consultants of MBPA have extensive training in energy related topics, knowledge of building science, and adhere to the "house as a system" approach to energy improvements.

"House As A System"

The component systems of a home are interrelated; changing one part without consideration of the others can cause other problems in the home. Understanding the interrelations and accommodating them requires knowledge of many systems including heating, cooling, ventilation with respect to moisture, temperature and air leakiness.

With knowledgeable consideration of the house as a system, changes in one part can increase the performance of other component systems and the house as a whole. The "house as a system" approach accepts the reality that the various components and systems of the home do not work independently. Given appropriate consideration, the net result is a home that performs better on many fronts: energy efficiency, comfort, durability, safety, and affordability.

Home Performance Consultants are independent technicians who do not sell any energy product or equipment. Consultants can provide comprehensive Home Performance Testing services, including Home Energy Ratings. These services are described under Existing Homes and New Home Construction.
